Performance Profile & Rider Fit
Best For
Rider Profile
| Best For | This is a heavy, torque-driven cruiser best suited to riders who already have some experience managing low-speed balance and weight on a big V-twin, though this particular unit is a police-spec Dyna Defender rather than a standard civilian model. |
| Purpose | Built as a law-enforcement patrol platform, it excels at steady, upright cruising, low-speed maneuvering through traffic, and long duty shifts rather than outright speed or cornering agility. |
| Rider Fit | The low seat height and moderate weight distribution make it accessible for shorter riders, but its substantial dry weight demands confident strength at parking-lot speeds and stops. |
| Character | It has the classic Harley Dyna character: thumping air-cooled V-twin torque, relaxed carbureted delivery, belt-driven simplicity, and a rugged, purposeful stance rather than sharp performance. |
| Not Ideal For | It's not a good fit for riders seeking quick cornering agility, high-speed touring comfort, or any kind of off-road capability. |

⚠ Safety Recalls (1)
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, A CONDITION OCCURS THAT COULD ALLOW PRESSURE TO BUILD UP IN THE FUEL TANK. ON FUEL INJECTED VEHICLES, THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE FUEL TO SPRAY OUT UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THE FUEL CAP IS REMOVED. ON CARBURETED VEHICLES, EXCESSIVE FUEL COULD BE TRANSFERRED TO THE CARBURETOR, WHICH WOULD EVENTUALLY ALLOW FUEL TO DRIP FROM THE AIR CLEANER.
Risk: THESE SITUATIONS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR CREATE A FIRE HAZARD FOR PERSONS OR PROPERTY ON OR NEAR THE MOTORCYCLE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL TEST EACH CANISTER FOR BLOCKAGE, THEN REPLACE AS NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN NOVEMBER 4, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-343-4056.
