Rider Profile

Best ForApproachable for newer riders thanks to its low, lowered seat and easygoing torque, yet appealing to returning riders wanting a classic Harley feel.
PurposeRelaxed around-town cruising and short weekend rides; a laid-back V-twin lifestyle bike rather than a distance-eater or canyon carver.
Rider FitLow-slung 'Hugger' seat makes it easy to flat-foot despite ~223kg heft. Upright, feet-forward-ish stance; tiny 8.5L tank limits range.
CharacterClassic air-cooled 883 V-twin: thumping, mellow and characterful, more about sound and feel than outright speed. Simple 4-speed old-school charm.
Not Ideal ForNot for tourers needing range, sport riders chasing lean and pace, off-road use, or anyone wanting modern refinement and horsepower.

Character map is an editorial estimate based on this bike's specifications, not a lab-tested measurement.

⚠ Safety Recalls (1)

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS Oct 1998 · 98V267000

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE CERTIFICATION LABEL INCORRECTLY INDICATES THE FRONT TIRE SIZE AS 100/90-19 57H INSTEAD OF THE CORRET DESIGNATION MH90-21 56H. ALSO THE CERTIFICATION LABELS DO NOT CONTAIN THE CORRECT MODEL DESIGNATION. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 120, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS."

Risk: IF INCORRECT TIRE INFORMATION IS GIVEN, UNDERRATED TIRES COULD BE PLACED ON THE MOTORCYCLE CAUSING EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR OR, IN EXTREME CASES, POSSIBLE TIRE BLOWOUTS.

Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH NEW CERTIFICATION LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. IF AN OWNER DESIRES, THEIR DEALER CAN INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.
