Atlas Honda is Pakistan's largest motorcycle manufacturer, operating as a joint venture between the Atlas Group of Pakistan and Honda Motor Company of Japan. Its roots go back to 1962, when the Atlas Group signed a technical collaboration agreement with Honda and formed Atlas Autos Limited to build motorcycles in Karachi. A second plant, Panjdarya Limited, was established at Sheikhupura in 1979; the two operations were merged in 1991 to form Atlas Honda Limited as it exists today. Since then the company has grown into the dominant motorcycle producer in Pakistan by both production capacity and market share, building Honda-designed models under license for the domestic market. It remains structured as a licensing and manufacturing partnership rather than a wholly owned Honda subsidiary.
