Husaberg was a Swedish off-road motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1988, formed by a group of engineers led by Thomas Gustavsson who wanted to keep motorcycle engineering alive in Sweden after Italy's Cagiva bought Husqvarna's motorcycle division the previous year. The new company focused on large-displacement four-stroke off-road and supermoto machines, competing seriously in enduro and motocross despite limited resources. Austria's KTM acquired Husaberg in 1995, and by 2003 KTM had moved all production to its Mattighofen headquarters, keeping only Husaberg's motorsport operations in Sweden. The brand continued as KTM's off-road-focused engineering arm for two more decades, but was discontinued entirely in 2014 - fittingly, its final year also marked its 25th anniversary - after KTM's later acquisition of the Husqvarna name gave it a more historically resonant badge to consolidate its off-road lineup under instead. Husaberg no longer exists as an active brand.
