PGO is a Taiwanese scooter brand of Motive Power Industry, founded in Taiwan in 1964. From 1972 to 1982 the company ran a decade-long technical collaboration with Italy's Piaggio - the maker of the Vespa - and PGO's own name is derived from that relationship. The partnership let PGO combine European scooter styling and engineering practice with Taiwanese manufacturing, and the company has since positioned itself as a premium domestic brand rather than a budget option, winning Taiwan's government-backed Excellence Award for product quality in more than 20 consecutive years. PGO is not widely sold in North America or Europe, but remains an established player across Asian markets, known particularly for its TIGRA scooter line and a growing range of electric scooters marketed under its PGO Smart Electric Vehicle brand. Its focus throughout has stayed on well-built commuter scooters rather than large-displacement motorcycles.
