Saxon Motorcycles was founded in 2004 in Casa Grande, Arizona, by four executives who had come from the residential home-building industry. Their idea was to apply the production discipline and management practices of that industry to custom motorcycle manufacturing, which was then dominated by small, fragmented shops during the mid-2000s American chopper boom. From a 40,000-square-foot facility, Saxon built around 400 motorcycles in its 2005 model year, positioning itself as a volume custom builder rather than a one-off shop. Saxon changed ownership at least once, reported in 2009, and by 2012 the business itself was reported to be for sale. It does not appear to have survived as an active manufacturer beyond the collapse of the American custom-chopper market later that decade.
