Titan Motorcycle Company of America was founded in 1995 in Phoenix, Arizona, at a time when demand for new Harley-Davidsons outstripped supply and many owners were customizing their bikes heavily after purchase. Titan built complete, factory-produced V-twin cruisers and choppers at an affordable price point rather than one-off custom builds, with model lines including the Gecko, Coyote, Roadrunner, and Sidewinder. The company grew quickly enough to go public on NASDAQ in 1997, becoming one of the first volume manufacturers of American-style custom cruisers. Management and financial troubles followed, and by 2001 Titan's dealer and customer support network had collapsed, leading to bankruptcy; a Florida businessman purchased the company later that year. The original Titan brand did not survive as a major manufacturer, though the name has since been revived on a smaller scale by later owners marketing new Titan-branded motorcycles.
