The Alligator is a feet-forward motorcycle developed by racing driver and constructor Dan Gurney through his Dan Gurney Alligator Motorcycle Company, a division of his All American Racers workshop in Santa Ana, California. Gurney, a tall rider who found conventional motorcycle riding positions too cramped and crouched, began developing the concept using a 1976 Honda XL350 as a base, completing the first version, nicknamed "Grandpa Gator," in 1980. The low, reclined seating position gives the Alligator an unusually low center of gravity compared with conventional motorcycles. It has remained a low-volume, specialist design out of Gurney's racing operation rather than a mass-produced model.
