Blata is a Czech manufacturer of minibikes and pocket bikes founded by Pavel Blata in 1990 in Blansko, building on his background as a minibike designer and factory racer since the 1970s. He produced the first motorcycle to carry the Blata name in his own garage in 1991, and by 1992 the young company had built over 550 units and begun developing scooters, exporting to the United States and European Union the following year. A partnership with Rastislav Brodsky, who had been developing a scooter called the Zoom, led to the Blatino line of gas-powered scooters. Blata built its reputation on small, lightweight racing pocket bikes and minibikes, including its Elite and Origami series, and continues to design and machine its own engines in Blansko for a competition-focused niche market.
