The BMW K 100 RS is the sports tourer from BMW's first K series, launched in 1983. It uses a liquid-cooled 987cc in-line four laid flat along the frame, with shaft drive and a fairing.
Fast, smooth and reliable, it marked a big change for BMW, which had built mainly boxer twins for decades. Rivals included the Honda VF1000F and Kawasaki GPZ900R.
