The BMW R 100 GS is the larger version of BMW's original GS adventure bike, launched in 1988. It uses an air-cooled 979cc boxer twin with shaft drive and BMW's Paralever rear suspension.
Tough and capable, it became the classic long-distance adventure bike of its time. Rivals included the Honda Africa Twin and Cagiva Elefant.
