The BMW R 1100 RS is the first of BMW's oil-cooled four-valve boxers, launched in 1993. It uses a 1,085cc boxer twin with Telelever front suspension and shaft drive.
Comfortable and stable, it suits riders who want a sports tourer. Rivals included the Honda VFR750F and Ducati 900SS.
