The BMW S 1000 R is a naked bike launched in 2014, based on the S 1000 RR superbike. It uses a 999cc inline-four tuned for more low- and mid-range torque, and has an upright riding position for everyday use.
It offers a full electronics package with riding modes, traction control and electronic suspension. A new version in 2021 brought a lighter chassis, more power and a TFT dash. It is a powerful, versatile naked bike. Rivals include the Yamaha MT-10, Kawasaki Z H2 and Ducati Streetfighter V4.
