Boss Hoss is an American motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1990 by Monte Warne in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Warne, a commercial pilot and trained aircraft mechanic, built the first V8-powered production motorcycle, pairing General Motors/Chevrolet V8 engines - ranging from 350 up to 502 cubic inches - with a semi-automatic transmission. The concept found a niche among riders wanting raw power and a distinctive sound rather than conventional sportbike or cruiser performance, and by the mid-1990s the company was selling around 300 bikes a year. In 2006, Boss Hoss became the first V8 motorcycle manufacturer approved for sale within the European Union, a milestone that came as the company passed roughly 4,000 total units sold. Still based in Dyersburg, Boss Hoss remains a small, specialized builder rather than a mass manufacturer, continuing to produce its V8 and V6 models largely by hand for an enthusiast market drawn to its unconventional engineering.
