California Scooter Company (CSC) was founded in 2008 by Steve Seidner, an entrepreneur with family roots in the motorcycle industry going back more than 60 years. The idea grew out of Seidner's own restoration of a 1953 Mustang motorcycle and his involvement with the Mustang Motorcycle Club: with guidance from Jim Cavanaugh, a former Mustang Motor Products production manager, he set out to revive that 1940s-60s Mustang styling in a modern, fuel-efficient small-displacement motorcycle. The company built its lineup around that retro-cruiser look powered by small four-stroke engines, later growing into the wider CSC Motorcycles brand distributing a broader range of imported models in the US.
