Cleveland CycleWerks was founded in 2009 in Ohio by Scott Colosimo, Jarrod Strength, and Curtis Ray, aiming to build inexpensive, retro-styled motorcycles - cafe racers and bobbers - for city riders after finding little support from US suppliers and funding sources. The company turned to manufacturing partners in China, sourcing frames and Honda-derived small-displacement engines through CPI Motor Company of Taiwan, and built a following across Asia, Europe, and Africa, including dedicated Cleveland owners' clubs in multiple countries. Founder Scott Colosimo later shifted his focus toward electric motorcycles through a new venture, LAND Energy, with Cleveland CycleWerks itself put up for sale as that pivot took place.
