The 1990 Chang-Jiang 750 J-1 is a Chinese sidecar outfit derived from the Soviet M-72, itself based on a pre-war BMW design. Its air-cooled 745cc boxer twin makes 27 hp through a four-speed gearbox and shaft drive. Weighing 370 kg with a 24-litre tank and a top speed of about 110 km/h, it suits relaxed vintage touring.

Best for
Built as a utilitarian, low-speed hauler, it excels at slow, steady cruising and carrying passengers or cargo rather than any form of spirited riding.
Built for
It has the charm of a rugged, old-world military-derived machine, full of mechanical character, vintage feel, and unhurried, deliberate presence on the road.
Not ideal for
This is not the machine for riders seeking speed, agility, cornering precision, or a modern, effortless riding experience.
Scores are derived from the spec sheet using the same model across every bike, so they compare like for like.
