The Harley-Davidson FXST 1340 Softail is the first Softail, launched in 1984. It hid its rear shocks under the frame to recreate the look of a 1950s rigid-frame Harley. It uses an air-cooled 1,337cc Evolution V-twin.
Its vintage look made it one of the most influential Harleys ever. Rivals included the Honda Shadow 1100 and Yamaha Virago 1100.
