The Honda CBR600RR is Honda's race-replica 600, built from 2003 as the sharp alternative to the friendlier CBR600F. It arrived with MotoGP-inspired bodywork, Unit Pro-Link rear suspension and an underseat exhaust, and it has stayed a 599cc liquid-cooled inline-four ever since.
The first generation established the formula: an aluminium frame, 17-inch wheels and a screaming top end aimed at Supersport racing as much as the road. 2005 brought an inverted fork and radial brakes. 2007 was the big reset, with a new engine, new frame and much less weight, and that architecture underpinned the bike for years. Combined ABS arrived as an option in 2009.
Honda dropped the RR from several Western line-ups in the late 2010s, then revived it for Japan and Asia in 2021 with a TFT dash, winglets and a full electronics package. Europe got the bike back for 2024 with Euro 5+ tuning. The CBR600RR is a committed supersport with a high, sporty riding position, and its rivals are the Kawasaki ZX-6R, Yamaha R6 and Triumph Daytona 660. Riders who want a calmer middleweight Honda should look at the CBR650R.
