The Honda CBR900RR Fireblade was launched in 1992 and changed the sportbike world. Designed by Tadao Baba with a 'light is right' philosophy, it combined the power of a big bike with the weight and handling of a 600, using an 893cc inline-four.
It was updated regularly, growing to 918cc in 1996 and 929cc with fuel injection in 2000. It was succeeded by the CBR954RR in 2002 and the CBR1000RR in 2004. Rivals included the Yamaha YZF-R1 and Suzuki GSX-R750.
