The Honda XL 600 V Transalp is one of the first modern adventure bikes, designed for both long road trips and dirt roads. It uses a liquid-cooled 583cc V-twin in a tall, comfortable chassis with a half fairing.
Reliable and versatile, it became a favourite with overland travellers and commuters through the late 1980s and 1990s. It was replaced by the XL650V Transalp. Rivals included the Yamaha XT600Z Tenere and BMW R 80 GS.
