The modern Kawasaki Z900 dates from 2017, when it replaced the Z800. It uses a 948cc inline-four of around 125 hp in a lightweight steel trellis frame, giving strong, flexible performance with a smooth, four-cylinder feel.
Updates over the years added a TFT dash, riding modes and traction control, and Kawasaki has offered A2-restricted versions in Europe. A significant update for 2025 brought ride-by-wire, cruise control and new styling. The Z900 has been one of Europe's best-selling big nakeds, competing with the Yamaha MT-09, Honda CB750 Hornet and Triumph Street Triple. Kawasaki's retro-styled Z900RS uses a version of the same engine.
