Neander has 3 models (12 model years) on MotorcycleDB, from 2008 to 2017, mostly cruisers.
The Neander name has been used for two unrelated ventures six decades apart. The original Neander motorcycles came from Ernst Neumann-Neander, a painter and graphic artist who turned to vehicle design and founded Neander Motorfahrzeug GmbH in Duren, Germany, in 1926; his novel pressed-steel frames housed engines ranging from small 122cc Villiers two-strokes to 350cc and 500cc Kuchen singles and large J.A.P. and Motosacoche V-twins. The modern Neander is a separate company, Neander Motors GmbH, founded in 2003 by Philipp Hitzbleck, built around an unconventional 1340cc turbocharged diesel parallel-twin engine with two counter-rotating crankshafts designed to cancel out vibration, producing around 100hp and 200Nm of torque - one of the few production attempts at a diesel-powered motorcycle.
