The Triumph Thruxton is the café racer of the Hinckley Bonneville family, named after the Thruxton 500-mile race that Triumph won in the 1960s. The model introduced in 2004 used the air-cooled 865cc parallel twin with clip-on bars, rear-set footrests and a bum-stop seat for a classic café-racer stance.
It is a modest performer by modern standards, with about 68 hp, but it offers authentic retro style and an easy-going character. Fuel injection arrived in 2008, hidden inside throttle bodies styled like carburettors. Triumph replaced it in 2016 with the liquid-cooled 1,200cc Thruxton and Thruxton R. Rivals include the Royal Enfield Continental GT and Moto Guzzi V7 Racer.
