The Yamaha FZ1 was a naked bike launched in 2001. It used a version of the 998cc inline-four from the YZF-R1, tuned for more low- and mid-range torque, in a comfortable, practical chassis.
In 2006 a new FZ1 with an aluminium frame and more powerful engine arrived, offered in naked and half-faired Fazer versions. It is a powerful, versatile bike for road riding and touring. Rivals included the Kawasaki Z1000 and Honda CB1000R.
