GASGAS was founded in 1985 in Girona, Spain, by Narcís Casas and Josep Pibernat, filling the gap left when the dominant Spanish trials brand Bultaco ceased production in 1983. The company built its reputation on trials motorcycles, winning FIM Trial World Championship titles through the following decades, before expanding into enduro and motocross machines during the 1990s. In 2019, GASGAS was acquired by Pierer Mobility, the Austrian group that also owns KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles. Under this ownership, GASGAS gained access to KTM's engineering and production resources while continuing to build its trials models in Girona. Today the brand sits alongside KTM and Husqvarna as one of Pierer Mobility's three motorcycle marques, positioned with its own distinct styling and character while sharing underlying platforms with its sister brands - a structure that has significantly expanded its lineup beyond its off-road racing roots into street and adventure models.
