Norton Motorcycles

Norton is a historic British motorcycle marque tracing back to 1898, long known for its racing pedigree and models like the Commando. Decades of financial instability, intensified by Japanese competition from the 1970s onward, culminated in a modern-era revival attempt led by entrepreneur Stuart Garner starting in 2008 - an effort that produced hand-built, high-priced models but never achieved lasting profitability. That chapter ended when Norton was placed into administration on January 30, 2020, following a winding-up order. Indian manufacturer TVS Motor Company bought the Norton brand and assets in April 2020 for roughly $20 million. Since then, TVS has invested heavily in rebuilding the company - reportedly more than 200 million pounds to date - funding a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Solihull, England, new management, and new working practices, positioning Norton for a fresh product lineup backed by a far larger parent company than it has had in generations.
