The Bajaj Chetak is one of India's best-known scooter names. The original was a 145cc two-stroke, closely related to the Vespa, that Bajaj built from the 1970s until production ended in 2006. For decades it was family transport across India, valued for its simplicity and ruggedness.
Bajaj revived the Chetak name in 2020 for an electric scooter with modern styling and a metal body, so later Chetaks are rated by battery and range rather than engine size.
