The BMW S 1000 XR is an adventure-sport tourer launched in 2015. It uses a version of the 999cc inline-four from the S 1000 RR, tuned for more low- and mid-range torque, in a chassis with long-travel suspension and an upright riding position.
It combines superbike performance with touring comfort and features such as riding modes, electronic suspension and cruise control. A new version in 2020 was lighter and more refined. Rivals include the Ducati Multistrada V4 and Kawasaki Versys 1000.
