The Indian Scout name dates back to 1920. During Indian's revival, a Scout was built in Gilroy from 2001 to 2003, using a 1,442cc air-cooled V-twin.
In 2015 Indian launched a new Scout under Polaris ownership, with a 1,133cc liquid-cooled V-twin, a low seat and sporty handling. It became one of Indian's best-sellers and spawned the Scout Sixty, Scout Bobber and Rogue. In 2025 a new Scout range arrived with a 1,250cc engine. Rivals include the Harley-Davidson Sportster and Nightster.
