The KTM 690 SMC R is a high-performance supermoto launched in 2012. It uses a 690cc single, one of the most powerful single-cylinder engines in production, in a light chassis with 17-inch wheels and sharp handling.

Updates added a second balancer shaft for smoother running, ride-by-wire, cornering ABS and traction control. It is designed for experienced riders who want a fun, agile bike for city streets and twisty roads. Its sister is the 690 Enduro R. Rivals include the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono.
