Rider Profile

Best ForBest suited to riders with some prior experience handling heavy, low-slung cruisers, given the bike's substantial weight and fat rear tire.
PurposeBuilt for bold, low-slung boulevard cruising and making a visual statement rather than outright performance or long-distance efficiency.
Rider FitThe low 640mm seat height makes it accessible for shorter riders, but the 303kg dry weight demands confident strength at slow speeds and when maneuvering.
CharacterA dark, muscular Softail with a stripped-down, aggressive Night Train attitude, favoring torque-driven cruising over high-rev thrills.
Not Ideal ForNot the right choice for riders seeking agile cornering, off-road capability, or a nimble daily commuter.

Character map is an editorial estimate based on this bike's specifications, not a lab-tested measurement.

Rider Fit Visualizer

Calculated in your browser only - your height/inseam are never sent to our servers.

Feet:

At 681mm, a rider of 68.9" with a 31" (estimated) inseam will reach the ground with both feet flat on the 2007 Harley-Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train, with a cramped knee angle of around 75 degrees and an upright riding position.

Data quality: measured. Assumes about 30mm of suspension sag once seated (a typical street-bike rule of thumb - stiffer or softer suspension will vary). This is an approximation from category-typical geometry and generic body proportions, not a measurement of this specific bike or you - sit on it before you buy.

⚠ Safety Recalls (1)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES Apr 2007 · 07V173000

CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILT WITH A CONDITION THAT PERMITS THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TO CONTACT A WELD BEAD ON THE OIL TANK. THIS MAY CAUSE THE WELD BEAD TO ABRADE THROUGH THE INSULATION ON THE CABLE AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT FROM THE BATTERY THROUGH THE OIL TANK AND OIL LINES.

Risk: THIS COULD LEAD TO AN OIL LEAK AND/OR POSSIBLE FIRE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH TO THE RIDER.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A BATTERY CADDY THAT WILL PROTECT THE CABLE AND ENSURE PROPER CABLE ROUTING. THIS RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 4, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 1-414-342-4080.
